It's all over the news: Brett Favre has retired from the Green Bay Packers. I would like to take this opportunity to say:
I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK!
Seriously. If I get ONE more e-mail or message about "OMG did you hear about Brett?" I'm going to stab someone with a GB themed letter opener or something.
I do not, nor have I ever will care about sports or anything sports-related.
Seriously. I'm quite certain there are far more pressing things happening in this world that Brett Favre retiring. It does not need to be headline news.

Aww Megan, you make me giggle.
I feel the exact same way my dear. I think the presidential race, or the war, or something like that is far more pressing then brett farve..*sigh* society huh?
Well, I disagree. Football (or sports in general) is something that gives a lot of people pleasure, and Brett Favre is a widely loved figure. Yeah, most people don't know him personally, but most people respect and adore him. Was it any less newsworthy that his father died a few years ago? Or who won the superbowl? Considering there's so many depressing things going on today, what's wrong with paying attention to "unimportant" things like football that keep people entertained, even for a short while? Or should our news be solely murders and rapes and war news?
On that note, I do feel the news should have better coverage, like the fact that there have been over 5 school shootings this month but people have only heard about NIU.
As for the other comment, I think there's bigger problems with society than what the news decides to talk about one night, so maybe you should focus on that or shut it.
Anon, I can see where you're coming from. But here's the thing: It does not need round the clock up to the minute coverage. It does not need that much attention. I'd much rather hear about politics and school shootings and world affairs than hear about football.
This is the reason I think America is failing. People are much more concerned with Brett Favre than what's going on in the world around them. It breeds ignorance.
And I'm PMSing.
